Sharing Light, Love, and Hope to kids with cancer

#EllaStrong

Our Purpose: To directly support research for improved treatment and cures for pediatric cancers and support nonprofit organizations that improve quality of life for pediatric cancer patients and their families. To fight the good fight for kids with cancer who deserve a better chance in life.

  • Funding direct research for safer and more effective treatments and cures through grants and nonprofit donations
  • Support Integrated Wellness for pediatric cancer patients during cancer treatment
  • Support Quality of Life Organizations that support families and children such as day and overnight cancer camps, respite housing, wish granting, moral support, direct financial support for needy families, palliative care
  • Raise awareness for grossly underfunded pediatric cancer research in the federal government budget and encourage the people to donate blood, platelets and bone marrow through blood drives and bone marrow match education

Pediatric Cancer

In the last 40 years, the overall survival rate for children’s cancer has increased from 10% to nearly 90% today, but for many more rare childhood cancers, the survival rate is much less. 12% of children who are diagnosed with cancer do not survive.

The Journey

Ella was diagnosed on her 9th birthday on April 28, 2017 with a rare pediatric bone cancer, Ewing’s Sarcoma. Originally thought to have had a bad stomach bug, her family was devastated to learn this seemingly healthy child who never even needed an antibiotic in her life now had a 10cm tumor at the base of her spine that had metastasized to her lungs, along with two blood clots. She bravely endured 14 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of proton radiation to her lower spine, and 2 weeks of whole lung radiation over the course of 9 months until she was declared NED (no evidence of disease) in January 2018. Despite the toll it took on her body, she always held a bright smile and kept a strong spirit, continually raising money for pediatric cancer research through her very successful lemonade stands. So far, she’s raised over $40,000 in research funds to help kids with cancer. Ella lives in Davidsonville with her four siblings, plays cello and piano, loves lacrosse, and wants to be President of the United States someday.
